Those Runner Kids is a kids fitness class designed to introduce young children to exercise in a fun way. Skills are presented in the form of games and structured play, developed by certified personal trainer and running coach Lauren Keating, who specializes in youth training.
Children are introduced to concepts of running and practice running skills. This includes both speed work (short sprints) and endurance (longer, slower pace). This is presents through games. Through gameplay kids work on listening skills, directions, learn to work as a team, and work on other skills such as color recognition.
While kids run around A LOT, this is NOT a competitive racing program. Those Runner Kids specifically work on athletic and social/emotional skills and use running, other exercises to reach that end goal.
At the heart of the class is the obstacle course! The course changes every week to reflect the theme and skills of the week that are being worked on. The final class features the Ultimate Obstacle Course along with a fun run where all kids are awarded with a medal for improving their fitness each week.

Did you know?!
According to the National Association of Sports and Physical Education, children should get at least 60-minutes of moderate-intensity exercise each day. There are also guidelines for infants and toddlers, toddlers recommended to get at least 30-minutes physical activity per day and preschoolers at least 60-minutes.
Ages
Classes are best suited for toddlers ages 2-7 It is designed to be a class where siblings can do together so infants ages 1 are also welcomed. Keep in mind that this means kids ages 1-3 will need help from their parent. This makes it a great option for a mommy-and-me exercise class!

Program
Those Runner Kids offers classes in the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Classes are held outdoors, meeting once a week for 45-minutes for either 6 or 8-weeks depending on the location and time of year.
